OMG 2 Review : We all know the risks associated with sequels, a wise man once said. Think you need to move past it, go above and beyond, and have the bravery to avoid simply repeating the previous one since lightning doesn’t strike the same location twice very often. It kind of fits in with a movie that is essential but somewhere suffers from the SCS (no, not the uncommon congenital illness) “Sequel Comparison Syndrome” because the man was Harry Hart from Kingsman (the excellent one), played by Colin Firth.

Let’s start by eliminating the similarities. Akshay Kumar is dressed as a deity, but this time, instead of helping an atheist like Kanji Lal Mehta (Paresh Rawal), he decides to aid his favorite follower, Kanti Sharan Mudgal (Pankaj Tripathi). The similarity between the two Kanjis is that, although not being lawyers by trade, they had both defeated some of the city’s top attorneys with the aid of the Almighty.

You should learn more about Bollywood by now if you don’t already know that the plot of this movie concerns a teenage kid who is shamed and bullied for masturbating in his school (stay on Koimoi.com for that; no, I wasn’t paid extra to mention this). So, when a devout follower of Lord Shiva Kanti experiences an incident where he and his son are humiliated for the aforementioned subplot, he decides to file a lawsuit against the school, creating a fun courtroom drama that will always stand out as the highlight of the movie and also features the defense attorney Kamini (Yami Gautam).
OMG 2 Review
The Gujarati play Kanji Virudh Kanji by Bhavesh Mandalia and the Billy Connolly movie The Man Who Sued God provided strong support for the first installment’s release. This great idea of an average atheist attempting to sue God for a “act of God” was baked by Umesh Shukla. This time, however, events change, and the Lord Shiva’s devotee (as compelled by some brilliant minds employed by the CBFC) is under pressure to remind people that masturbation is a healthy deed in addition to assisting his favorite devotee in winning a lawsuit.
Most of the time, the conflict is more genuine and personal. mostly because it occasionally loses equilibrium and things become too handy to be true. One such instance is the way the role of Lord Shiva’s devotee in Kanji’s life is significantly less strong than it was in Umesh Shukla’s film. That may be the case because the problem serves as the film’s anchor, making it both powerful and weak and contributing to both its success and failure. Writer-director Amit Rai builds the very engaging courtroom arguments on a flimsy foundation of conflict development. Kanji’s well-thought-out strikes are met with a weak defense that comes off as sanctimonious.

It exhorts followers to maintain things as they are in order to preserve Sanatan Dharma’s amazingly advanced nature. It also sheds light on the value of sex education for the advancement of society. How many more Padmaavats must there be before we change the way our movies are censored?
OMG 2 Movie Review: Actors Performance
OMG 2 Review: Pankaj Tripathi demonstrates how it’s possible to walk in style while wearing those kicks in addition to stepping into the shoes of a faultless performance. Tripathi applies his magic, which prevents you from recalling that there was previously a Kanji. Additionally, he is able to act in his own manner while yet maintaining the essence of the character thanks to the well-developed character sketch. In one scene, he prostrates himself before a sex worker, and that is just what we ought to do to the actor within him.

Yami Gautam gives it her all, but she isn’t as fortunate as Pankaj in terms of having a strong screenplay behind her. She is the target of constant dumbing down that prevents her from developing a strong defense. She is the well-known but unsuccessful lawyer, yet she excels in the sequences where she is face-to-face with Pankaj in discussion. Kamini isn’t as steadfast as Yami.
Even if Akshay Kumar’s portrayal of a god isn’t as active, the protagonist still receives the assistance she needs. One of the biggest reasons I would choose the original OMG over this is his relationship with Kanji. Lord Shiva has played both the omniscience of Lord Shiva and the innocence of Lord Krishna with equal skill. You would love to see more of his routines with Kanji Bhai because he is so precise.
The supporting cast we saw in the prologue is stronger than Govind Namdeo and Arun Govil, who are just about competent. When Pavan Malhotra has the chance to shine, he seizes it with both hands. Pranlal Mutho’s actor is entertaining, and he merited more screen time.

OMG 2 Movie Review: Direction, Music
Amit Rai follows the simplest path when carrying out the script. Aside from the delicate subject, not a single risk has been taken to improve the film’s appearance or atmosphere over what it now is. You’ll be transported back in time by some visual effects to the days of Microsoft Paint.
The background music is so uninteresting that it doesn’t enhance any of the scenes. The entire film features the ‘damru’ bgm on Akshay’s role. All the tunes are uninspired.

OMG 2 Movie Review: The Last Word
All things considered, this movie is amazing in terms of the “must-talk-about” approach that seeks to accomplish things quickly. I had intended to give this a 3/5, but Akshay Kumar and the team’s bravery in tackling a delicate subject in a lighthearted manner merits an extra point for their vision.
